<div><p>After an extended beta and release candidate testing period, we are pleased to announce the release of JCE 2.4</p>
<p>This will be the last feature release of JCE 2, with subsequent releases dealing with bug fixes only. All future development effort will be concentrated on JCE 3. More information on JCE 3 will be published in the coming weeks.</p>
<p>Although this release is mainly focused on bug fixes, some notable changes in this release include:</p>
<h3 style="font-size: 18px; line-height: 18px;">Font, Format and Custom Style options moved</h3>
<p>These options have been moved from the Editor Parameters / Typography section to their own tabs in Plugin Parameters</p>
<h3>Profile Parameter Encryption</h3>
<p>An option has been included in the Component options (click on the Options button in the JCE Control Panel) to enable encryption of Profile parameters using AES128. This may be desirable when installed JCE Add-ons (such as the Amazon S3 Filesystem add-on) use sensitive information (passwords etc.) stored in Profile Parameters. The parameter data is decrypted when the profile is exported, allowing for the transfer of profiles from one server to another.<span style="font-size: 9pt; line-height: 16.200000762939453px; background-color: transparent;"><br /></span></p>
<h3>Various improvements and bug fixes</h3>
<p>As usual we have made every effort to fix as many issues reported as we could, most of these have been included and tested in previous beta and release candidate packages. If you encounter any new problems, or think that an issue you reported previously has not been addressed, please post a note in the <strong><a href="https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/index.php?option=com_easydiscuss&view=categories&Itemid=126">forum</a></strong>.</p>

<div><p>For some time now I have been considering ending development of JCE MediaBox. It is quite a popular extension, and has existed in one form or another for Joomla 1.5, 2.5 and 3 since <strong><a href="https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/news/item/jce-utilities-for-joomla-15" target="_blank">at least 2008</a></strong>, initially as JCE Utilities, then later as JCE MediaBox.</p>
<p>Despite this, it's development and maintenance are obviously time consuming, and take away from time that could be spent on the JCE Editor. Unlike JCE Editor, there are a few (perhaps better) alternatives, <strong><a title="Yootheme WidgetKit Lightbox" href="http://www.yootheme.com/widgetkit/examples/lightbox" target="_blank">Yootheme WidgetKit</a></strong> and <strong><a title="RocketTheme RokBox " href="http://www.rockettheme.com/joomla/extensions/rokbox" target="_blank">RocketTheme RokBox </a></strong>to name two, both free, actively developed, and supported by JCE Editor through <strong><a title="Add-ons" href="https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/plugins/add-ons" target="_blank">add-ons</a></strong>.</p>

<div><p>This update changes the display style of the caption container to display:inherit in an attempt to fix "responsiveness" of captions, as well as the calculation of the max-width value of the caption text container.</p>
<p>Please note that captions with a float:left or float:right style (Container Alignment left or right) will not be responsive.</p>

<div><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">A flood of releases this week in preparation for <a title="News" href="http://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/news/item/reduced-support-response-from-16th-december">our downtime next week</a>. JCE 2.3.4.3 was silently released yesterday after a number of issues from previous updates were reported, and after discovering a couple more this morning, we have pushed out 2.3.4.4 to deal with these too.</span></p>
